We had the worst flood so far. We were cut from the outside world. Three bridges to Gorontalo were destroyed and flooding prevented any traffic to Molibagu. The pictures below do not give justice at all to the forces at work!

Valley entrance some weeks ago at sunshine ...

... and during flood.

This picture shows the former proposed building site for the mosque.
The damm we built can be seen on the left.

After the worst flood in five years and our damm getting washed away ...

... we decided to better built the mosque somewhere else!
Take notice of the big trees lying around all over the place!

There is only a little remain from the damm we built, a small island.
The water even went over the riding paddock!

Reshaping the landscape!

The gabion baskets stood their test so far but if the flood would have kept on for another day, they would have been shred to pieces as one already did and the river hut would be gone. The flood took nearly two meters close to the chicken stable and only thanks to the trees further damage was prevented.

The river bank freshly protected by gabion baskets
and big stones two years ago ...

... here one can see how much the flood took away including the big stones!

After the storm: Everybody enjoins the sun again!
And the lesson was: Once the storms starts, there is nothing you can do but watch and hope that your preparations have been sufficient! That is also a lesson for the storm and hard times to come in the future! All the stories about the Prophets who were neglected by their people tells us that the punishment of Allah always came unexpected und suddenly. So nobody should fool himself and think, once the breakdown starts he could still relocate to the country-side then!
And insyaAllah it increases our taqwa, remembering the following ayaat and the great gift Allah gave us with this valley:
... Give thanks, O House of David! Few of My bondmen are thankful ... There was indeed a sign for Sheba in their dwelling-place: Two gardens on the right hand and the left [as who should say]: Eat of the provision of your Lord and render thanks to Him. A fair land and an indulgent Lord! But they were froward, so We sent on them the flood of 'Iram, and in exchange for their two gardens gave them two gardens bearing bitter fruit, the tamarisk and here and there a lote-tree. This We awarded them because of their ingratitude. Punish We ever any save the ingrates?
(Saba 13, 15, 16, 17)
We made a new section, wherein we put our ideas how the valley could develop: Valley-Layout.
